For a period of one year from date of shipment to the original buyer, High Plains Door & Millwork Inc. Characteristics Excluded From These Warranties
The following are not defects in the workmanship or materials and are not covered by this written warranty:

2. Damage caused by installing a wood door without adequate overhang protection. The door must be protected with an overhang that projects outward at least 1/2 of it’s height. Example: If the height of the overhang is 10 feet, projection of overhang must be a minimum of 5 feet.
3. Installing a wood door in prolonged direct sunlight, as typically found in south or southwest facing exposure. A wood door must not receive more than 4 hours of direct sunlight each day.
4. Damage caused by using dark colored stain or paint on exterior surfaces exposed to direct sunlight.
5. Doors which have unbalanced materials or finish, (i.e., oak on one side and poplar on the other or stain inside and paint outside).
6. Damage caused by failing to properly seal and finish all six sides of the door (including top and bottom edges) with at least 2 top coats of high-grade finishing materials in accordance with the paint/stain manufacturer’s instructions. Do not use lacquer-based toner or finish on any exterior door under any circumstance.
7. Natural variations in the color or texture of wood including variations in the appearance of factory distressing.
8. Panel misalignment or shrinkage of 1/8″ or less is not considered a defect. Panels are designed to float and temperature or humidity changes may cause the wood panels to shrink, leaving an unstained line along the panel edge.

Limitations and Exclusions
There are no other warranties expressed or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or any other such warranties. High Plains shall not be liable for consequential, indirect or incidental damages, or for any amount in excess of the purchase price of the defective door, whether the claim is for breach of warranty or negligence. High Plains is not responsible for transportation, shipping, removal, finishing labor or installation charges or costs incurred in replacing the product or any other costs relating to replacement of the product.
Handling and Storage
1. Handle carefully with clean gloves and do not walk on or drag doors across one another or any other surfaces.
2. Store doors flat and level in a clean, dry and well ventilated building. Cover to keep clean, but allow air circulation.
3. Doors should not be subjected to extremes of heat, dryness, humidity, or sudden changes therein. They should be conditioned to average prevailing relative humidity before installation or finishing.
4. Doors should not be delivered to the installation site until the plaster, texture or cement is completely dry.
5. If the doors are to be stored on the job site for longer than a week all the ends and edges must be sealed with an effective quality sealer in order to prevent undue moisture absorption.
Preparation for Finishing
1. All High Plains doors must be finished shortly before or after installation. Before applying the first coat of finish, remove all handling marks, raised grain and other undesirable blemishes by sanding all surfaces with 180 grit sandpaper. To avoid cross-gain scratches, sand with the grain.
2. Adjust or align components if necessary before finishing. Wood panels “float” and may be knocked into alignment with a wood block and hammer. Be careful not to damage the door.
3. After sanding, clean the door thoroughly with a cloth to remove all dust or foreign material. Do not use caustic or abrasive cleaners.
4. Hang door before finishing, and then remove to finish properly. Doors must be properly sealed prior to installation of hardware and exposure to moisture or weather. Properly finish door immediately before prolonged storage.
5. All surfaces of the door must be properly finished. The edges (top, bottom and sides) should be coated with each and every coat of finish that is applied to the exterior surface of the door. Doors must be dry before finishing.
6. On doors that are glazed with clear glass, the finish used should be flowed from the wood slightly onto the glass. This will provide assurance against water leakage and protect the glazing compound “putty” from drying out.
7. Note: It is the finisher’s responsibility to protect glass prior to and during finishing. If using tape, conduct a test of the tape being used on a small area of the glass before applying to a large surface. After finishing, remove the tape as soon as possible.
8. Do not use razor blades or sharp objects to remove the tape or clean the glass. These items will scratch the glass.
